A tragedy has unfolded after a young woman underwent a nose job procedure with a doctor she found on TikTok, leading to her death, which is now under investigation.
Margaret Spada, 22, from Lentini, Sicily, died on the operating table during a nose job procedure at a clinic in Rome. She had traveled there for the surgery on November 4th after discovering an ad for the clinic on TikTok.
Reports indicate that Margaret became seriously ill soon after being administered a local anesthetic, losing consciousness before the rhinoplasty even began. Multiple attempts were made to resuscitate her, but her condition rapidly worsened. She was rushed to a hospital, where she slipped into a coma and, three days later, passed away in her hospital bed in Rome.
Her family’s lawyer expressed the tragic irony that this was supposed to be a routine operation, calling it unacceptable that a 22-year-old would return home in a coffin.
Margaret’s boyfriend, who was waiting outside the operating room, was allegedly taken into the room to witness her condition as it declined, a highly unusual occurrence. Disturbed by what he saw, he recorded a short video, which is now being reviewed by investigators as part of a manslaughter investigation conducted by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office. It remains unclear why he was allowed into the operating room.
Investigators have reportedly seized medical records to determine if the clinic was properly authorized to conduct such a complex procedure. They are also examining whether her health was adequately assessed prior to administering anesthesia.
The two doctors, a father-son duo, are now suspects in the case. The untimely death of Margaret has left her entire community of Lentini shaken, as her family and friends seek answers about the circumstances surrounding her death at the clinic she found on TikTok.
