Nephew Fatally Shoots Uncle Multiple Times Over Feelings of Being Unloved and Unwelcome

A school police dispatcher was murdered last Friday by his nephew, who felt unwelcome and unloved.

Thirty-seven-year-old Jose Torres was shot to death in his home on Friday after failing to pick up his wife and kids from work and school.

His wife and children called another family member to pick them up and take them home. Upon arriving, they discovered Jose’s body.

Reportedly, Jose was a school dispatcher for the Spring Branch ISD Police Department. He was shot several times in the face and upper body.

Police stated that it appeared Jose had been working outside in the yard and was shot after returning inside the home. Authorities found multiple shell casings within the house.

His nephew, 22-year-old Antonino Guzman, was identified as a suspect and arrested on Sunday at his home.

Reportedly, Antonino waived his court appearance on Sunday.

Prosecutors revealed during a bond hearing that Jose and his wife had raised Antonino as their own. Antonino admitted to investigators that he killed his uncle because he felt unwelcome and unloved in Jose’s home.

Jose’s wife told investigators that Antonino owned a gun and struggled with anger issues. She also mentioned that he had a noticeable limp, which investigators observed in surveillance footage showing him fleeing the scene.

Antonino is currently being held on a $200,000 bond.
