Carissa Jenna Smith, a Missouri substitute teacher, faces charges of statutory rape and trafficking involving minors

A Missouri teacher has been accused of exchanging drugs and alcohol for sex with multiple students, including one encounter on a gravel road.

Carissa Smith, a 31-year-old teacher, was arrested Tuesday for sexual trafficking, statutory sodomy, statutory rape, patronizing prostitution, hindering prosecution, and sexual contact and misconduct with a student.

According to the Pulaski County sheriff’s office, Smith allegedly had sex with students and minors at her home and various locations around the area, including a gravel road and the side of a road.

To engage in sexual activities with minors, she reportedly offered money, drugs, or alcohol. She also bribed them with these items to perform oral sex.

One victim stated that his first sexual interaction with Smith occurred while he was a student at Dixon R-I School District. He reported meeting her when she was substituting for another teacher; during that time, she gave him her Snapchat information.

Smith began sending boys she spoke to on Snapchat pictures of her breasts and butts. She eventually sent them nude photos of herself in the shower.

Reportedly, after asking students for sex and offering money, she would instruct them to keep it a secret and not discuss it with anyone or else they would face trouble. One victim stated that during one sexual encounter, she forced him to ejaculate in her. The boy said this was f*cked up, and Smith got him to do it by offering more money.

In another incident, a student reported smoking marijuana with Smith and her friend Lacey Beam, who is a former school nurse for Dixon R-I School District. It was said that on this particular occasion, Smith dropped off Beam at her home and took the boy to McDonald’s because her husband and children were at home. Yes, she was married and had kids.

Smith worked as a long-term substitute teacher at Dixon R-I School District for the 2022-23 school year and then worked as a professional at the high school for the 2023-24 school year. She was reportedly hired again as a long-term substitute for the high school for the 2024-25 year on July 22nd, but resigned on August 30th.

She is currently being held on a $250,000 bond, and her next court date is set for November 20th.
