Mike Posner, the lead singer of “Cooler than Me,” and “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” released a new tune together called “Beautiful Day.”
His TikTok videos are quite upbeat and full of hope, and he also provides an inside look at the business. One of the most intriguing things he’s done is that, after being well-known for his song “Cooler than Me,” he kind of had his second album shelved by his company, which led to his donating some of his greatest songs to other musicians.
I learned that he wrote the songs “Sugar,” performed by Maroon 5, and “Boyfriend,” sung by Justin Bieber.
He stated, “I thought in the studio this would never be on the radio,” in reference to the song “Boyfriend,” adding that it became famous despite his initial belief that everything at the time was 120 bpm, but this song was only 96 bpm, making it more hip-hop and danceable. His message to all creators was, “Your job isn’t just to create; it’s to create and share.”
After having another successful song, “I took a pill in Ibiza,” Mike Posner basically left the music industry and chose to travel around the country, which is how he came up with the new outlook he now incorporates into his songs.
He just released a song titled “Beautiful Day.” He co-wrote it with Scott Harris, who is incredibly upbeat and has collaborated on most of Shawn Mendes’ greatest songs.
For Mike Posner, a beautiful day marks the beginning of a new chapter in which he is open about the commercial side of music creation while still loving to compose.
