After wrapping up two years on the road for his record-breaking “One Night At A Time” tour, promoting his third studio album, Morgan Wallen has returned to the studio, preparing for his next chapter. To celebrate the October 18th release of his song “Love Somebody” and his massive homecoming concerts in Knoxville, which set a city record with 156,161 attendees, Wallen has unveiled the music video for “Love Somebody (Live from Neyland Stadium).”
Directed by David Lehr and David Forehand, with co-direction by Global Extreme, the video was filmed on September 22nd during Wallen’s second night performing at Neyland Stadium, University of Tennessee. Wallen is only the fourth artist to ever perform at this venue, the sixth-largest college football stadium in the U.S., breaking the attendance record previously held by The Jackson 5 in 1984 with 148,407 people.
On the song’s release, Wallen explained, “‘Love Somebody’ represents a fresh lyrical and sonic direction. I wanted to explore different themes and sounds, drawing inspiration from Latin-leaning influences. I’m really excited to share this track.”
Written by Wallen, John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Elof Loelv, and Ryan Vojtesak, and produced by Joey Moi and Charlie Handsome, “Love Somebody” captures Wallen’s quest for authenticity in a world of superficiality, as he searches for someone not swayed by “dollar signs and blinding lights.”
Love Somebody Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Rumors goin’ all over town
Can’t keep my name out they mouth these days
Yeah, they say
I live too fast to settle down
Truth is I just ain’t about these games
They all play
[Pre-Chorus]
Wanna find
Somethin’ stronger than the whiskey
And oh, I’ve tried
But every time I feel her kiss me, I keep comin’ up empty, yeah
[Chorus]
I just wanna love somebody
Who won’t leave a hole in my heart
I just wanna love somebody
That don’t want me fallin’ apart
And I’d be lucky if I ever find
A somethin’ more than just a crazy night
I just wanna love some-
[Verse 2]
body who ain’t hypnotized
By dollar signs and blindin’ lights
Like they tend to be, yeah
I need someone that I’d be proud
To take on back to my hometown
Honest eyes that just ain’t gonna lead
[Pre-Chorus]
To lonely nights
Even when she’s up against me
I don’t know why
It feels like there’s nobody with me
And I’m still empty, yeah
[Chorus]
I just wanna love somebody
Who won’t leave a hole in my heart
I just wanna love somebody
That don’t want me fallin’ apart
And I’d be lucky if I ever find
A somethin’ more than just a crazy night
I just wanna love somebody
[Instrumental Break]
[Chorus]
I just wanna love somebody (Woah)
I just wanna love somebody
Who won’t leave a hole in my heart
I just wanna love somebody
That don’t want me fallin’ apart
And I’d be lucky if I ever find
A somethin’ more than just a crazy night
I just wanna love somebody
