Teen Hockey Player Colin Brown Dies After Being Shot on Interstate 55
A heartbreaking story coming out of Missouri yesterday. Colin Brown, a teenage hockey player, was shot on Saturday night on Interstate 55 in St. Louis and died Wednesday morning from his injuries.
The shooter still hasn’t been caught.
Reportedly, Colin was struck by a stray bullet around 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 55 as his family was driving home from one of his hockey games.
Reportedly, after Colin was shot, his dad continued to drive, but he then met up with EMS and police. An ambulance rushed Colin to a local hospital where he was in critical condition for several days, before he sadly passed away on Wednesday morning.
After the shooting, St. Louis homicide detectives followed up on several tips. They also received a new video and are currently reviewing it or any other relevant information that could lead to who shot Colin.
Colin was 16 years old, and he was a student at Christian Brother College High School in St. Louis County. It was said that on Wednesday many family members, friends, and medical staff lined the hallways of the hospital as Colin was taken on his walk of life in order to donate his organs.
His father stated that his organ donation saved four lives so far, so he’s definitely a hero.
It was said that this donation of organs was just a perfect example of the type of young man Colin was and the type of household he grew up in. His whole family has a steadfast commitment to serving people around them, which is inspiring.
His father stated that Colin wanted to be a doctor when he grew up.
Police are asking anybody who lives on Interstate 55 or near Interstate 55 and Loughborough Avenue to check out their security camera footage from the time of 10:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. on Saturday night, November 23rd, to help police with anything that can lead the investigation.
Authorities reportedly said that no tip or piece of information is too small. They need everything right now, as they don’t know what small little bit of information could lead them to crack the case.
Police have not yet given any information on a potential suspect, but they did say that this type of disregard for human life will not be tolerated in that area or region.
Crime Stoppers is now offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the suspect of the shooting. If you have any relevant information, contact SLMPD’s homicide detective line at 314-444-5371 or Crime Stoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
